Elective Courses

1.AREA ELECTIVE* (COMPLEMENTARY ELECTIVE):

Except for compulsory courses and except the courses that have content overlap with compulsory courses, all courses that can be associated with the program studied and coded with PRED, ED, CET, SCED, PHYS, CHEM, MATH, CE, ESC, CMPE, PSY, EE, EC, STS, IE, BIO can be selected.

* You must obtain approval from your advisor for courses other than the specified codes.

** It is the student's responsibility to control the courses that has content overlap with compulsory courses.

2.ENVIRONMENTAL ELECTIVE*:

Except for compulsory courses and except the courses that have content overlap with compulsory courses, all courses which can be associated with the “Environment” and especially coded with CE 222, ESC 301, ESC 305, ESC 306, CHEM 471 can be selected.

* You must obtain approval from your advisor for courses other than the specified codes.

** It is the student's responsibility to control the courses that has content overlap with compulsory courses.

3.HSS ELECTIVE*:

Except for compulsory courses and except the courses that have content overlap with compulsory courses, all courses that can be associated with the program studied and coded with EC, HIST, HUM, SOC, PHIL, POLS, PSY, STS (STS courses that can be associated with history, philosophy, and sociology), ED*** (Except for the ED courses including practice), PRED*** can be selected.

* You must obtain approval from your advisor for courses other than the specified codes.

** It is the student's responsibility to control the courses that has content overlap with compulsory courses.

*** For example, lessons given below cannot be selected as HSS elective;

  • ED 200 (LIVING WITH DISABILITIES)
  • ED 300 (COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT)
  • PRED 420 (CREATIVE DRAMA ACTIVITIES)
  • PRED 210 (MUSIC & MOVEMENT IN EARLY CHILDHOOD)
  • PRED 482 & PRED 486 (SP.TP.MUSIC THE.&VOCAL TRAIN.FOR PRE-SER I-II)

4.MATHEMATICS ELECTIVE*:

Except for compulsory courses and except the courses that have content overlap with compulsory courses, all courses coded with MATH can be selected.

* You must obtain approval from your advisor for courses other than the specified codes.

** It is the student's responsibility to control the courses that has content overlap with compulsory courses.

5.PHILOSOPHY/HISTORY OF SCIENCE ELECTIVE*:

The courses coded with HIST 482, STS 322, STS 323, PHIL 222, STS 401, STS 410 can be selected as history/philosophy of science elective.

* For more information about the courses which can be selected as history/philosophy of science elective, consult to the advisors.

** It is the student's responsibility to control the courses that has content overlap with compulsory courses.

6. PHYSICS ELECTIVE:

Except for compulsory courses and except the courses that have content overlap with compulsory courses, all courses coded with PHYS2..., PHYS3..., PHYS4...  can be selected.

* It is the student's responsibility to control the courses that has content overlap with compulsory courses.

7. PRED / SCED / ED / CET ELECTIVE:

Except for compulsory courses and except the courses that have content overlap with compulsory courses, courses given by Department of Primary Education (PRED), Department of Mathematics and Science Education (SCED), Department of Educational Sciences (ED), Department of Computer Education and Educational Technology (CET) can be selected.

* It is the student's responsibility to control the courses that has content overlap with compulsory courses.

8.SPECIFIED ELECTIVE:

Except for compulsory courses and except the courses that have content overlap with compulsory courses, courses coded with MATH (except for the courses which is created for Departments of Social Sciences; e.g. MATH 105), PHYS, CHEM, BIO, STS 230, STS 301, STS 302, ESC 305, BM 402 and courses that are eligible to be a MATH ELECTIVE can be selected.

* It is the student's responsibility to control the courses that has content overlap with compulsory courses.

9. UNRESTRICTED ELECTIVE:

All courses without content overlap with the courses taken by the student with a minimum of 3 credits can be selected.

PE and PA courses can be taken as one of the unlimited elective courses. If the credits of these courses are less than 3 (PE & PA) courses can be taken to complete 3 credits (two 2-credit PA lessons; or a 2-credit PA and a 1-credit PE). Three credits cannot be taken for three elective courses.

* It is the student's responsibility to control the courses that has content overlap with compulsory courses.
